Rodrigo Pessoa (or was that Speed Racer?) and his spectacular horse Palouchin De Ligny give us a breathtaking display of show jumping in the Gambler’s Choice Class at the 2010 Washington International Horse Show. That’s a real Formula 1 race suit he’s wearing signed by World Champion Mika Haakinen. In this class you jump as many fences as you can in any order within the time limit. Each jump is assigned a number from 20 to 170 (more or less on the degree of difficulty) and you are awarded those points for each one you clear. Knocking down a rail means you don’t get any points for that fence, but no penalty either. At the end, you have the option to do a high skinny vertical worth 200 points. But if you knock it down, 200 is deducted from your score. That’s the Gambler’s Choice, my favorite jumper class. This was with costumes, so it just made it more fun! Shot with a Lumix GH1 and Nikon 50 mm F/1.4 lens.
