Edward Gal and Moorlands Totilas – Rollkur or not?

Published on 17 Mar ’10 by in Dressage Video

This performance by Moorlands Totilas and Edward Gal at the European Championships in 2009, was yet another stunning performance by the new sensation of world dressage. They’ve broken every record in the book along the way, but also caused controversy among dressage elite and enthusiasts on the correct, or incorrect method of training and carriage.

Many have criticised the percieved over use of Rollkur. Whether you believe in the performance or not, everyone surely must agree this is some spectacle.  Have your say and leave a comment at the bottom of this post.

  1. Well it obviously worked for them! They both won the FEI World Cup Dressage Final in Hertogenbosch

This is dressage at its most deformed. But this is what we see the judges want. Expression, energy, and tension are getting high marks- that is the trend we are seeing in modern dressage. What happened to relaxation? Notice the profuse sweating and the way the horse flings out his forelegs without having the proper engagement behind. Nothing but show…
